I can’t tell you how much dental implants have changed in the ten years since I started Sleep Dentistry Defined. In fact, to this day, I still attend monthly seminars and dental training workshops that introduce me to new technologies for creating better dental implants.

What that enables me to do as your dentist is provide you with as many options as possible for completely transforming your smile! And that’s exactly what dental implants are for. While we have many other techniques for tooth and mouth restorations (everything from deep cleanings to veneers) sometimes we need to start from scratch on one or several teeth. That’s where dental implants come in. We can replace a tooth – or when needed, many or all of the teeth – with a prosthesis that can retain up to 100% of the feel and function of your original teeth. And advanced dental technology makes it all possible!

There are four main categories of dental implants that we specialize in at Sleep Dentistry Defined. We’ve found that these options offer our patients a range of implants that balance looks, feel, cost, and durability, and give patients with a range of needs a path to a fully restored smile!

All ceramic permanent screw-down dentures

All-ceramic implants are made using zirconia and porcelain. They are an excellent option for maximum chewing ability, fit and cosmetics. They offer a highly durable, beautiful implant.

Metal acrylic permanent screw-down dentures

Metal acrylic implants are constructed of a metal framework with acrylic teeth. A good option for chewing ability, fit and cosmetics. They restore up to 90% of the chewing ability that can be lost with deteriorated teeth.

Snap-in, snap-out implant dentures

Acrylic snap-in, snap-out dentures allow a secure fit while retaining the ability to remove dentures for cleaning or repair. Many of my patients select snap-in, snap-out dentures because they’re very easy to remove for cleaning or repairs.

Traditional dentures

Traditional acrylic dentures are a good budget option that restore some chewing ability while allowing easy removal for cleaning or repair. Consider a different option if you have a sensitive gag reflex.

While these are the four primary implant types that we currently use at Sleep Dentistry Defined, we tailor each patient’s care just for his or her need. And we are constantly finding new technologies that help us make better, more incredible smiles! So watch this space, you never know when the next amazing advancement in dental implants will appear (but we’ll be the first to know!)
